A squad of our year six children recently entered the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells area Sportshall Athletics competition. The competitiors had to take part in 5 events, a 10x10 m dash, vertical jump, standing long jump, speed bounce and chest push. All the events were measures or timed and results sent off to a central partnership with 19 other schools. We have now recieved our placing which was 6th out of 20 schools. Huge congratulations to Ben, Louis, Leon, Rafferty, Isaac, Lola, Bella B, Siena, Emily and Bella G.
Fantastic results Goudhurst and Kilndown. A few weeks ago the whole of KS2 took part in the WOKSSA Hockey Dribble challemge. We sent our results in and have just found out that we were the winners of this competitions. Good work KS2.
All of our children from year 1 to year 6 recently entered the virtual Run For Life. Each age group had a different distance to run and the teachers and TAs had to time the children and send in the top ten girls times and top ten boys times from each year group. Our times were then compared to approximately 200 others from schools around the Tonbridge, Tonbridge Wells and Weald areas,
We had a very successful event with lots of top ten positions and some Gold, Silver and Bronze Results. The following children all attained a top ten position:
Blythe, Lucia, Eben, Luke, Harry, Eva, Florence, Tula, Noah, Eliza, Evelyn CT, India, Harrison, Rupert, Leon, Matthew, Sebastian, Charlie, Ford, Eddie and Joseph W.
Congratulations to them all.
Special mention to our medal winners:
Bronze - Leon
Silver - Rupert, Eliza
Gold - Eben, Harrison, Eva
I believe that medals will be sent to the school!
Yesterday some children in year six were able to recieve the Young Leaders Sports training from the TWKSSA. As part of their ongoing training they will then deliver this training to the rest of year six in the New Year. The children will be able to help with our active playtimes, run and help with clubs ( as and when they are able to re-start and also lead some PE curriculum areas within practical lessons. Thank you to Hannah from the Partnership for training the children and well done to Olivia, Klara, Anais, Sophie, Violet, James, Louis, Toby, Jake and Otto.
Tuesday 12th November a group of year six boys competed at the
Dulwich Football festival. The boys played all of every game due to a last
minute drop out and didn’t tire once. The weather was pretty grim with plenty
of wind and rain and, though there was a fair bit of shivering, there was no
complaining. The team won all their group matches which then put them through
to the premier league play offs! They then won the next 2 games which put them
through to the final. Unfortunately, they lost this game 2-0, to an outstanding
team from Marden. We finished the festival as runners up. Thank you to the
parents who came along to cheer the boys despite the weather. Thanks you to Mr
and Mrs Barker for accompanying me in the minibus. Well done to Will T, Cayden,
Matty, Sam, Cole, Alexander and Luke
During this Rugby World cvup we have been set a digital challemge by TWKSSA. We have to see how many passes we can make in 1 minute and then send a video in to be judged. Year 3 made 47 passes. We did, however, make 15 videos to achieve that!!!!
On Tuesday 17th a small group of year five children took part in the WOKSSA Football festival. It was a beautiful evening on the Glebe field in Benenden and the boys did a sterling job, never letting their heads go down against opposition from older and bigger teams. They showed great team spirit and were great ambassadors for the school. Special mention must go to Sam who stepped in at 8pm the night before so that we could make a team to attend.
Well done to Isaac, Rafferty, Louis, Brandon, Dylan, Sam and Eddie.
Thank you to Ali for courageously accompanying me on the minibus.
We had a wonderful day at Dulwich Prep school on Friday 13th September. The sun shone and the children ran fantastically in their cross country races. Well done to all that took part. Specual mention to Eva for winning a bronze medal. Thank you to parents for their help with transport and their support on the day.
Congratulations to Eliza, Evelyn, Leoni, Eddie, Noah, Charlie, Blythe, Darcey, Lucia, Henry, Eben, Jack, Noah, Charlie, Henry, Eva. Savvy and Anna.
On Monday 24th June the Goudhurst and Kilndown Athletics squad competed at the Julie Rose Athletics Festival. The day was glorious and the children were amazing. They ran, jumped and threw out of their skins. They also enjoyed the chips and the ice creams!
This is the 11th year that I have taken a team from Goudhurst and, I am very proud to say, the 11th year that we have won the event.
A huge congratulations to Savvy, Eva, Charlie A, Gus, Bella B, Lola, Leon, Isaac, Lily H, Emilia, Cayden, Matty, Poppy, Ellie-Marie, Tommy and Jack.
Thank you also for the great support from our teams’ families, we were definitely the loudest.
Many thanks to our work experience girls Bella and Issy who came along as my Happy Helpers.
Big congratulations to Will T, Cole and Cayden for making it through the first round of the West Kent Football Trials. They will now start weekly training sessions followed by a second trial to make it through to the WK squad. Well done boys MM
