Goudhurst & Kilndown Church of England Primary School

Volunteers

Schools are undeniably one of the largest “employers” of volunteers in the country with Governor numbers alone totalling over 300,000 people in the UK.

Add to this figure of volunteers on the PTAs, volunteers who run clubs, help with reading, coordinate walking bus initiatives etc and the total becomes quite staggering!  Our school is no exception and we are fortunate to have a strong volunteer culture within our school.

Volunteers at Goudhurst

All of our Governors are volunteers, as too are the parents who run our PTFA.  Additionally, and importantly, we have volunteer parents who run some of our after school clubs, open our library at lunchtime, manage the second hand school uniform store,  come in to school to read with our children, help with IT in the classroom, etc.

Volunteers within our school oil the cogs, fill the gaps and bring people together to enrich the curriculum to give the children more than the school alone could provide and we are most grateful for all that they do. We value the contribution that Volunteers make to our school and all regular volunteers are expected to complete a DBS check and to sign a Volunteering in School Confidentiality Agreement in line with our Volunteering Policy.
