UK Indoor Athletics 2024

What a wonderful experience it was to attend and enjoy the UK Indoor Athletics Championships on 17th and 18th Feb in Birmingham. This Championships is a chance for athletes to meet the mark for entry into team GB for the upcoming Olympics in Paris as well as the World Athletics Champs in Glasgow. 

My new best friend Dwain Chambers still competing at 45 as well as superstars Laura Muir and Kat JT performing. There is also a picture of the back of Martin Rooney's head, but you'll just have to take my word for that! Athletes, turned coaches were also in evidence such as Linford Christie and Darren Campbell.

The biggest moment for me personally was the huge pride I had watching an old Goudhurst & Kilndown pupil, Asha Root, competing in her first UK call up. She raced in the 400 metres and finished her heat in fourth place. Asha trains regularly at Tonbridge AC and can also be seen on the reception desk at The Old Parsonage Surgery!
