Knight Day and Our New Learning
It was brilliant seeing everyone dressed up as knights for our knight day. We had fun making hobby horses and riding them round on the playground. We had a brilliant range of names from Twinkle, Daisy and Sparkle to John, Robert and Jack Dennis! And of course, one was named 6,7.
Knight day was a lovely way to conclude our learning on castles and knights. At the end of our knight day, I changed over our learning board, ready for the new term. In term 5 our learning focus will be living and growing. We will start off by reading ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. On the last day of this term I introduced our new learning. We read the story and watched a little video all about the life cycle. My mum very kindly knitted me the hungry caterpillar resources and created a big knitted caterpillar with all the food he eats so as we go through the story the children can put the food in the caterpillar… and of course we have a knitted butterfly too. The children were really engaged with this learning so I hope they enjoy this as much as space and castles and knights. We have already ordered our caterpillars to arrive the first week of term and we will watch them change into butterflies.
