Fabulous Foraged Food & a Campfire Lunch

Following the events of last week, it was wonderful to be back in the woods and remind ourselves that everything was a-OK. We had time to talk and reflect and were all in agreement that through supporting one another we could all be known as Team Hero! It was fitting then that Beech & Oak Group got to try my all time favourite sweet treat for eating around the camp-fire.....toffee crab apples! This was partnered with sweet chestnuts although I spared the children my Nat King Cole rendition!!
The children helped prepare the crab apples, toffee and chestnuts and created a vent for the steam to escape in their steam cans....which led to a science chat about what happens to things as they get hotter.
The crab apples were a HUGE success the chestnuts less so but everybody tried them and the resident robins were absolutely thrilled with the leftovers!!
With a warm lunch in our bellies....the afternoon was a mixture of building, mud sliding, crafty creations, looking for deer tracks. Take a look at this week's gallery for a sneak peak at Team Hero's Foraged Feast and fun packed day.
