Elderflower Forage & Feast

Today we dived into the wonderful world of elderflower! We looked, we sniffed, we touched and we tasted Rosehip's delicious elderflower cordial and then sampled freshly fried elderflower fritters made over the campfire! Everybody agreed that elderflower is AWESOME!

The children also enjoyed making magical wands; researching the many beautiful butterflies and wildflowers of Broad Oak Woods and making up some fun games and building some brilliant dens. Possibly the most fascinating find this week was - a glow worm larvae - we out some very interesting and also pretty gross facts about them!

We ate our lunch out on the meadow overlooking the stunning view across to Park Farm Woods. The children observed a buzzard riding the thermals and watched a red-kite swoop down to the newly-cut field below. After their lunch, Chestnut Group (like Holly Group the week before them) embarked on a "Kids' Only" adventure challenge...to circumnavigate the wildflower meadow. They needed courage, curiosity, compassion and commitment to succeed. Watch this week's video to find out if they made it back!!!
