Cooking up a Sting!

It was nettle week this week. We learnt about the fabulous powers and uses over the ages of the mighty nettle. Then we set of 'a foraging'! The children had to pluck the courage to pick nettles (gloves were optional) making sure to check for butterfly eggs on their underside. Fortune favoured the bold and the bolder the pluck the less likely you were to get stung! They then had the chance to sample 'Danger Fries' (nettle crisps) and on Tuesday Birch Group gobbled up the spiced Nettle Pakoras whilst on Wednesday many of  Elder Group came back for third helpings of Nettle & Pumpkin Seed Pesto.

Thanks to chefs this week who showed some fabulous culinary skills, problem solving skills and maths mastery!

Well done to all the children for being curious enough and courageous enough to try a new food. A lot of you are now HUGE fans and the great news is...your  ingredient is FREE!

Make sure to follow the foraging rules. I have attached a PDF

As promised, I have also attached the recipes.
