Meet the Teacher

Mrs Omer

Hello! My name is Catharine Omer.  I have been teaching at Goudhurst & Kilndown since 2000, mostly in Key Stage 1.  I am now in Year 4 and really enjoying learning with the marvellous children.

As well as a Class teacher, I am also subject leader for Religious Education and Personal, Social and Health Education and have a particular interest in specific learning skills and improving the social skills of the children. I have also recently completed a Mindfulness in Schools Project training so that I can now teach mindfulness, the Paws B scheme, to children. I have also helped student teachers train in our class which is of enormous benefit to the children as well as me and the student!

Outside of school I love to spend time with my children and dance as often as I can (usually in the kitchen!).  I have just finished an MA in Teaching and Learning with the Institute of Education, part of University College London.

Ms Lane

My name is Rosie Lane and I have loved teaching at Goudhurst & Kilndown School since I joined in January 2014. I qualified as a teacher in 2011 when I gained my PGCE at Greenwich University, London, and worked in a Greenwich school before relocating to Tunbridge Wells. I have experience in teaching across all key stages, and have gained alot from doing so; it's lovely to be involved in the learning at so many different stages of the children's primary life. I also have an honours degree in Music, gained at City University London, and so I am the school's Music Co-ordinator which keeps me extremely busy. Prior to teaching, I worked in senior management for the fashion retail sector, gaining a business management qualification as well as an over-stuffed wardrobe, a lot of shoes, and more bags than you can shake a stick at. Outside of school I spend all of my spare time with my young son, and I cherish every minute. I'd like to say that I love going to the gym and keeping fit, but really all I can say is that I am a member of a gym and think about getting fit quite alot. Being relatively new to 'the weald' I aim to spend alot of my future years getting to know the beautiful surroundings that are now on my doorstep.
