My name is Marie Donoghue and I have been working at Goudhurst & Kilndown CEP School since 2008 and have now taught across a range of year groups. I have several roles within the school, all of which I take very seriously. I am an Assistant Headteacher, Class Two teacher (job share with Mrs Benson) and also SENCO.
I recall on my original application form using the mantra ‘if they love it, they’ll learn it’ and this remains to be something I truly believe in to this day. I aim to make activities and experiences exciting and have a learning environment filled with fun and laughter (obviously whilst working hard at the same time!).
Outside of school, I am very proud to have two grown up children who are making their own way in life, a patient husband and a rather gorgeous, and thoroughly spoilt labradoodle called Riley. We are a family who likes to keep fit so can often be found at the gym (the coffee is very good!!) or running around Dunorlan Park (often with Riley too!). I also enjoy food and wine(!), baking rather than cooking (but I do both), going to the theatre and holidays!
I have been teaching since 1998, mostly at Goudhurst and Kilndown school. I enjoy planning and teaching fun and creative lessons. My aim is always to capivate the children's interest and imagination. I always try to take the learning outside as much as possible and like to include lots of drama and communication activities in all areas of learning.
I am the Art and DT co-ordinator and love to see the children being creative. I have a passion for teaching Science and still get excited myself when I am planning for a new topic. We have decided to do 6 topics this year so the children stay excited and keen to learn.
I have been married for 19 years and have 3 children ( aged 16,14 and 11 ). We live in Marden and have guinea-pig and a cat.
