Meet the Teaching Team

Miss Wilford

My name is Mia Wilford. I have recently qualified as a Primary School teacher from Canterbury Christ Church University. I am very excited to be joining the team at Goudhurst and Kilndown this year and cannot wait to bring in lots of fresh and fun learning experiences to the Year 1 class. It is my belief that every child’s imagination, interests and individuality is captured in their learning – both child-led and teacher-led.

Outside of school, I am an avid reader (a quality I feel is reflected in my teaching practice and my reading corner) and music lover. I enjoy travelling to new places, meeting new people and experiencing new things. Having just finished university, I enjoy frequently meeting up with friends for days out as well as spending time with my family.

Mrs Stanford

My name is Penny Stanford. I have been at Goudhurst and Kilndown now for more years than I care to remember and lived in the  village for 30 years before moving away this summer. I have two grown-up children who both attended our school, and have seen the school grow and develop over that time. Society has changed much over this time also and consequently I am passionate about ensuring that the children of Goudhurst and Kilndown receive the love and care they deserve alongside their learning, so they are able to achieve their potential in a happy and enjoyable manner.

I attended Bennett Memorial CE School in Tunbridge Wells when it was an all girls school, and then went on to The College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth. My own education was very much centred around the Church, and I try to ensure that my teaching reflects my beliefs as a Christian.  My passion in education is Outdoor Learning, and in particular, Forest School. I am a Level 3 Forest School Practitioner and lead Forest School two days a week for classes across the school. This very much ties in with my choice of leisure activities, which are walking and gardening. I have recently moved to a farmhouse (attached to the organic vineyard my husband manages) which has a large garden, so I have no need to go to the gym, but thoroughly enjoy sharing this beautiful space we are so blessed to be custodians of, with family and friends.
