1. Year 6 Cake sale - will take place this Friday. Please spread the word! Thanks in advance to everybody contributing and selling cakes. I will speak to the children too about what we could spend any money raised on.
We have just started our large fraction unit - we will take our learning back to basics to ensure everybody has a deep understanding before we tackle challenging context based problems and reasoning task. Fractions/decimals/percentages typically form approximately 45% of the SATs papers so it is important that we cover them thoroughly.
This week we will be looking at unlike fractions, mixed numbers. Addition and subtraction of fractions.
Children will start the week completing their letters to local businesses asking for materials for our new and improved outside play environment.
We will have a focus on advanced punctuation, specifically the difference in using colons and semi colons. Finally, I will introduce some new ways of comprehending different media - film and text.
We have completed practical demonstrations showing the movement of electrons. We will now be discussing these in more detail and recording our learning.

With Mr Goodman - Invasion Games. Children are to ensure that they have the correct PE kit in school.
The Ukelele lessons are starting to pick up in difficulty. We will try and squeeze in an additional session this week.
We have had a delay in setting up the portfolios but we are nearly there and should be ready to go on Thursday.
We will be studying the architecture of Chichen Itza and starting a series of sessions to create a landscape composition of the Chichen Itza site. Specifically we will be using perspective skills to create the compositions.
