Cake Sale money – a HUGE thank you from us all for all of your efforts in making Y2 cake sale one of the best ever!  A huge total was raised £170+ and we have already spent £52 of it!  We have subscribed to First News (a childrens newspaper) and are excitedly awaiting our first weekly copy.

Another little reminder... I know some children are not enjoying Maths Rockstar as much as we hoped and are finding it difficult to go against a timer.  I have been made aware of an Ipad App called Squeebles Times Tables 2.  It is £2.99 but is very good and the children who are already using it, love it!  There is also and evaluation version of Table Mountain which can be used on a laptop/computer – the link is

Have a good week.

Mrs Donoghue

We are all enjoying reading Meekat Mail by Emily Gravett and raising our voices and adding expression to the words in italics, capital letters or underlined!   This week we will be taking a photograph of each child with one of the meerkats so kindly volunteered (temporarily) and writing a postcard using the structure from the story.  We will also be spending time editing and improving our own work and really focusing on spelling and using the resources. The children will also do some SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) activities.

This week we will be focusing on column addition with re-grouping.  This really highlights the importance of starting with the ones and then tens otherwise it all goes wrong!  We will be starting with known numbers such as 15-9= so they can see if the answer is correct or incorrect before progressing to more challenging numbers.  In addition to this, we will also be carrying out a range of activities involving the 100 square which will  help the children become really secure with numbers and place value.  And if that wasn’t enough, the 5x times table will be threaded through the week too.

Mrs Mileham will be taking the children this week and they will be using the large apparatus.

The children are continuing to have a 30 minute drumming session every week.  Whilst we would like to be selfish and continue these sessions, we need to let Y1 and YR join in with the fun so our sessions will finish at Christmas.
