Thursday 30th January & Friday 31st January - Mrs Donoghue

Class 2 Kudus
For week beginning: 27th January 2020

We had a wonderful time dancing at 9.30am on Friday morning!  Thank you for supporting such as worthwhile cause and allowing us all to come off the curriculum and shape some moves!  You will find a short video on our blog – enjoy!

We will be taking part in the Christingle Service at St Mary’s on Friday.  The service starts at 2pm – please come and join us if you can.

Have a good week,

Mrs Donoghue

Maths

We will be focusing on times tables this week and recalling facts in a variety of ways. Please help us at home by challenging your children with some quick fire multiplication questions.  Every little bit helps!  Don’t forget there is only one log in for Numbots and Times Tables Rockstars so feel free to flick between the two!

We typically start with ‘’Number of the day’ which allows the children to develop fluency in number – by representing the number in many ways such as part/whole models, bar models and tally charts!

English

Walt Disney ‘takes a bow’ this week!  The children will learn about his life before creating a character that might be in the next Disney film (well you never know!).   This activity will allow the children to explore their creative side and use a range of adjectives to bring their character alive!

Reading – individual and group reading

As well as reading comprehension, we will be having daily reading sessions where the children will either read on their own, to an adult, or to a small group of peers.

Spelling

Spellings - the children need to learn the spellings on page 13 of the Monster Phonics book for a test on Friday - the rule being if the 'er' sound is after the 'w', it is spelt with a 'o', such as work, world.

P.E.

Mrs Mileham will be taking the children for PE this week.  They will be practising and developing their skills using the large apparatus.

R.E.

Our current unit is ‘Good News’ looking at the Gospel.  The children will continue exploring the meaning of the parable, The Good Samaritan and applying it to different contexts.
