W/c 21st May - Mrs Donoghue - Wednesday-Friday

Class 2 Kudus
For week beginning: 21st May 2018

I will be in class on Wednesday & Thursday this week.  I have to attend a meeting on Friday so Mrs Omer will be teaching the children on Friday morning, however I will be in school all day.

We are now half way through our ‘puzzle books’ and the majority of children haven’t even noticed that we are doing anything difference - a fact we are very proud of as it has always been our intention to keep these compulsory tests as low key as possible.  We will be finishing them on Monday and Tuesday next week.

We are having our class photo on Monday morning so bright shirts and smiles are a must!

Best wishes and enjoy the sunshine.

Mrs Donoghue

English

This week we will be focusing on adverbs.  We started this last week and the children produced a list of ‘how to break the rules’ by writing phrases such as ‘stamping loudly on the dinner tables’ and ‘secretly hiding the MA books so the teacher won’t find them’ – they certainly are a cheeky class!

Reading Comprehension – the children will continue to read straight after lunch on a daily basis;  they will also take part in a group reading session;  this is based around texts which typically takes 60 seconds to read before discussing questions relating to the text.

Spelling  You will find a new spelling list in your child’s book bag.  This week, they will be tested on Thursday rather than Friday.  As before, we will looking for those words to be spelt correctly in their writing rather than in a list so please help us by dictating sentences with the keywords in.  Thank you.

Maths

We have completed our fractions unit and have now moved onto 2D and 3D shapes.  Please help us by identifying shapes when you are at home and out and about.

R.E.

We will be continuing being artistic this week and creating some prayer mats and mehndi patterns and discussing their importance to Muslims and the Islamic faith.

P.E.

The children will be having their second tennis lesson this week, run by external tennis coaches and supported by Mrs Mileham.
