W/c 14th May 2018

Class 2 Kudus
For week beginning: 14th May 2018

I will be in class on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday this week.

We have had another lovely week and we feel the children are prepared for the ‘puzzle books’ next week.   A gentle reminder, we will be doing the SATs on 14th  & 15th May and 21st and 22nd May when both myself and Mrs Benson can be in class together.  Whilst illness cannot be avoided, please do give your child the best opportunity by ensuring they are in school on those days – it is so much nicer for them to do these papers with the rest of the class.

Best wishes and enjoy the sunshine.

Mrs Donoghue

Online links which support learning in class:

Squeebles: – an excellent app to be used on ipads - £2.99

Table Mountain: (evaluation version) to be used on a laptop/computer.

We have an outdoor learning day on Thursday 17th May.  The children will be going to Forest School as planned however they will also be learning outdoors when they return.  We will be asking and answering questions based on a picture this week – the picture being our stunning view from the field!  Glorious!

Reading Comprehension – the children will continue to read straight after lunch on a daily basis;  they will also take part in a group reading session;  this is based around texts which typically takes 60 seconds to read before discussing questions relating to the text.

Spelling  You will find a new spelling list in your child’s book bag.  We will continue to test them on a Friday however we are looking for those words to be spelt correctly in their writing rather than in a list so please help us by dictating sentences with the keywords in.  Thank you.

We will complete our fractions unit this week and revisiting multiplication and division as well as addition and subtraction.

We are planning on being artistic this week and creating some prayer mats and mehndi patterns and discussing their importance to Muslims and the Islamic faith.

We have a KS1 Interhouse tournament on Friday.  The details are being finalised however we are sure it will be a lovely event.
