Intended Learning- Week Commencing 26.03.18

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 26th March 2018

I hope you had a lovely weekend. Here we are again at the end of another term and Spring has sprung! As with the end of every term we will be doing some assessments to identify what the children have learnt and still need support with. Alongside these (and because they are so tired at this point in the term) we will be having some very exciting activities to inspire and engage them before the Easter holidays!

Tiger Who Came to Tea Party

An unanticipated number of attendees mean this will be the event of the week! Thank you for all the responses, we’re looking forward to seeing you there. As a reminder: if you attend you are welcome to take your child home at 3.00 when the party finishes.

Throughout the week we will be completing some activities to do with the book (and the party), including writing, art and design technology. Notably we will be making cakes and sandwiches in small groups.

RE

On Wednesday morning we will be having an ‘Easter Journey Morning’ where there will be lots of different activities to work through which tell the complete story of Easter and Holy Week.

Phonics

We will continue to practise the different ways to write down the ‘air’ phoneme (sound), and practising spelling words with the ‘v’ sound.

As a reminder, last term I sent a list of sounds home which detailed which sounds your child needs support with. Please make sure you help your child to practise recognising these sounds as much as you can as it will make all the difference in their reading. One really good idea I have seen from one parent is making a bookmark with the sounds on so they are always being looked at. Please ask me if you need any support with the sounds.

Music

This week will be our last week of Djembe drumming. It has been fantastic to the see the positive effect it has had on the children over the Spring Term, and they will miss the sessions greatly (until next year!)

Easter Service

The Easter service will be in the Church at 2.00 on Thursday. Feel free to take your children straight home from the church if you come to the service.

Reading Books and Book Bags

Please note that as Thursday is the last day of term, and we will be on the church in the afternoon, children should not bring their book bags on the last day of term. We will make sure they have reading books to take home for the holidays on Wednesday.
