W/c 25th June 2018

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 25th June 2018

My name is Miss Wilford and I am delighted to be working with all your lovely children.  I have had a wonderful two days and am really looking forward to next week.  I follow the schools open door policy so if you have any questions, or would just like to pop in and say hello, please feel free to do so.

Have a lovely week.

Miss Wilford

As you are already aware, we have an Explorer Day on Monday and we are therefore using this exciting event as an opportunity to write a recount of the morning. We will be focusing on capital letters, including 'I'.  In addition to this, we will be sharing the story of Pocahontas and writing a character profile.  We will also be doing phonics on a daily basis as well as guided reading.

This week the children will be investigating length.  They will be practically measuring various objects, including the children, and using the vocabulary short/shorter, tall/taller, long/longer and high/higher. They will also compare lengths.

We will be having two PE sessions this week focusing on developing their throwing and hitting skills through a variety of games including tennis, rounders and cricket.

There will be two creative themes this week; the children will making their own model of Pocahontas and also making penguins which will link beautifully with the popular story Lost and Found and help set the scene for our class trip to Drusillas.
