I hope you had a lovely weekend. Here is our learning for the week:
We will be learning about mass- what it means, how to compare masses, and beginning to measure it in non-standard units.
We will be looking at examples of old toys and comparing them to modern day ones. We will also be writing simple fact files about the toys we examine.
We will take a small break from learning about forces to think about materials. We will be investigating which materials are used on each toy, and sorting them by their properties.
We will be learning the different ways to write down the ‘oa’ phoneme (sound): o, oa, ow, oe, o-e)
The children will be making their own junk model cars! As per my message last week we need a few things, but fortunately most of what we need is in school. Some children will need extra plastic bottles and shoeboxes, but not all will. Mrs Found will write anything needed in their planners so please keep an eye on this.
We will continue our work with the beebots, and begin guessing where they will go when we input our instructions.
Djembe drumming will continue on Thursday.
We will talk about dental hygiene.
We will be continuing Rugby skills (passing) and hockey skills.
On Thursday I sent out the new timetable for ‘My Special Day’. Please make sure you have checked it and know when it is your child’s turn! We will be doing one round of the class over the course of the two terms running up to Easter.
Toys Through Time
Hopefully you have seen the letter detailing our theme day next week (Wednesday 31st). We have asked that the children come dressed as a toy, and it should be a wonderful, enriching day. If you have not read the letter, please check it for details. J
I hope you will join me in welcoming Miss Dargan to Elephant class. She will be with us until Easter. :)
