Intended Learning- Week Commencing 18.6.18

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 18th June 2018

The children have worked really hard on their phonics in the last two weeks so I hope that you had an enjoyable, restful weekend. I would recommend checking our blog to see some of the super topic work they have been doing! This week will be relatively back to normal, compared to the slightly less structured last couple of weeks- though we will not be in on Friday! Here is our learning for the week.

We will be practising numbers to 100, recognising them in words, counting them practically, and representing them in number lines and hundred squares.

We will be reading ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and be doing some writing associated with the book. Also, as part of our phonics lessons for the rest of the year we will be practising independent creative writing in short bursts, so it would be lovely to encourage this at home.

We will be investigating why some objects float and sink, and reviewing waterproof materials.

We will review and apply what we have learnt in phonics this year in writing.

We will continue our units of Game Making and Athletics.

Hot on the heels of the Fete last weekend, Mrs Found will be helping the children to make miniature (not so royal) scarecrows based on the creatures from Where the Wild Things Are.

We will continue our new unit ‘Round Round’.

We will review the Jewish custom of Shabbat.

Inset Day

On Friday this week, school will be closed to the children for the teachers to go out for professional development. I’m sure the children will enjoy the longer weekend!

History Day

Please note that on Thursday I sent a letter detailing a simple costume for our Columbus and Pocahontas themed day on Monday 25th June.

School Photo

We will be having our school photo on Monday afternoon. Please make sure your child comes in looking smart(er than usual) and in the correct uniform.
