Intended Learning- Week Commencing 15.01.18

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 14th January 2018

I hope you had a lovely weekend. Thanks to those who came to the information meetings last week and I hope they were useful. If you weren’t able to come and would like the information, I have printouts of the slides, and much of the information mentioned is on the website.

We will be continuing our work on length by practising measuring with non-standard units, as well as estimating lengths and heights.

To follow on from our work on ‘Dogger’ and ‘Knuffle Bunny’ last week, we will be spending some time planning our own ‘lost toy’ stories, and we will spend a couple of lessons writing them out. The children have already thought about the toys that they love, and what would happen if they got lost, so I’m expecting some fantastic, thoughtful writing!

We will continue our learning on forces by planning an experiment involving toy cars, ramps, and the new word ‘friction’…

We will be learning the different ways to write down the ‘igh’ phoneme (sound): i, ie, y, igh, i-e.

Mrs Found will be doing some DT this week, where the children will be planning their own toy car designs. Next week, dependent on how much we have at school, I may ask you to send in (clean) plastic and cardboard recycling which we can use for junk modelling, so please bear this in mind!

We will continue our work on algorithms by using beebot devices to input directions.

Djembe drumming will continue on Thursday.

We will be delving deeper into why Jesus is ‘The Good News’ to Christians by looking at stories of forgiveness and friendship.

We will be continuing Rugby skills (passing) and Dance with Mrs Mileham.

Special Day

Special Day will be beginning again next week. Please keep this in mind so your child can possibly start preparing something to share with the class next Monday! I will send out a full timetable at the end of the week.
