Intended Learning- Week Commencing 4.6.18

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 4th June 2018

I hope you had a wonderful half term- here we are at the last term of the year! We are rapidly moving towards Year 2 now, but I’m not ready to let go of my Elephants yet! We have LOADS of exciting trips and activities, and a lot of learning to do along the way. Here is our intended learning for the week.

We will be doing some recap work on fractions. Specifically, we will be finding halves and quarters of shapes, numbers and lengths.

We will begin our topic: ‘Voyagers’. This will be all about boats, oceans and explorers! We will start by learning the oceans and compass directions, and will draw maps including them.

We will be making paper boats, and investigating floating materials.

We will be playing lots of different phonics games this week, as the phonics screening will be over a course of days next week. If you have a pack of activities from before Easter, please keep practising them as much as possible (and if you are reading this at the start of the half term holidays, please do as much as you can over the week’s break!)

The children will have game making lessons, and one last tennis lesson owing to a change of schedule with one of the lessons last term.

The children will be using collage to create a scene of waves.

Special Day

A reminder that on the last week of term 5, I sent out a timetable for Special Day, which is starting next week. Please check to make sure your child is prepared.
