Intended Learning- Week Commencing 04.01.18 (Thursday)

Class 1 Elephants
For week beginning: 4th January 2018

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends and that all my Elephants are well rested. We have a short week to start off the relatively short Spring term this week, so we can ease back in to working hard gently. The start of a term is always a good time to remind you that I am always more than happy to meet after school if you need to discuss anything important. Now, on to this short week’s learning:

We will be practising methods of adding and taking away up to 20 (from last term) before we start a new unit next week.

We will be writing a short recount of what we did in the holidays.

We will be reviewing the sounds and tricky words learnt this year so far.

We will require your help for this one! On the first day of term, I would appreciate it if your child could bring in one of their favourite toys. They will be drawing detailed sketches of them. We will keep them in the classroom throughout the day so they can return home safely.

We will learn that an algorithm is a very specific type of instruction.

We will begin our unit of Dance.

Please make sure that PE kits are back this week ready for our first PE lessons, as well as any trainers that have been taken home for the holidays (we need these for the mile run). If you would like to check if you need to get new trainers to replace outgrown ones, please let me know and I’ll send them home this weekend.

Please could you help with a science experiment next week by donating one or two unwanted clear plastic bottles (with lids)?   A range of sizes is preferable, and if any have sports caps it would be useful, though not essential as we can poke holes into the caps. We need these for Monday, and it would be very much appreciated! Thank you.
